What is the Statue of Unity?

Statue of Unity is 3.5 km from Sardar Sarovar Dam located in Narmada district near Vadodara, Gujarat. At the bottom, a 182 meter high statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was installed on the river island called Sadhubet near Rajpipala.

Why is the Statue of Unity in discussion?

On 31 October 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the 'Statue of Unity' on the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and handed it over to the country. It is considered to be the highest statue of the entire world till now.

Statue of Unity Feature:-

  • A lift has been arranged in this statue, so that tourists can go to the heart of the statue. There is a gallery here where 200 tourists can stand together and see the Narmada River, Sardar Sarovar Dam and the valley of flowers situated there surrounded by Satpura and Vindhyanchal hills.
  • 3 km from the Statue of Unity. Tent City, Valley of Flowers and a convention center named Shrestha Bharat Bhavan have also been constructed.
  • This statue is 180 km The air moving at an hourly rate will also stand stable and be capable of withstanding 6.5 magnitude earthquake.

The famous American magazine Time has also included Gujarat's 597-foot-high 'Statue of Unity' in its latest list of the world's greatest places. Nowadays, Fatehpur  Sikri is a ghost town of beautiful sandstone arches, buildings, and courtyards displaying elements of Persian, Hindu and Jain design.

This is one of the oldest churches (16th century) in Goa but is still in decent condition. The place main attractions are Portuguese architecture and beautiful engravings. There is a statue of St. Michael too, which is famous. See the demon under his feet and the scale on his left hand.
