Kesava Deo Temple Near to Krishna Janambhumi Mathura | Kesava Deo Temple Timings

Kesava Deo Temple is considered too be the birth place of Shri Krishna in Mathura. This temple was built on prison, where Krishna was born. This most famous temple was constructed by the Raja Vir Sinh Bundela of Orchanain the regin of the Jehangir. Many historians believed that this Kesava Deo Temple was first built almost 5000 years ago by Vajranabha, the great-grandson of Lord Krishna.

Around 400 AD, this Keshava Deo Temple again constructed by Gupta Emperor Chandragupta II. the big temple constructed here. About this temple an old is very popular, This temple is so big and large, so not any painting or not any description could define its beauty and elegance. Again Chandragupta Vikramaditya has re-constructed this temple, but in 1017 AD, Kesava Deo Temple was destructed by Mahmud of Ghazni.

Third temple constructed by Jajja in Vikrama Samvat 1207 (1150 AD) during the rule of Vijaypal Deva. One of the greatest temple of Keshava Rai in Mathura was constructed by Bir Deo Bundela during Jahangir's time. In India, this temple has its unique place among other temples alreadyy present in India. A very attractive carved stone railing to the temple was presented by Prince Dara Shukon. This railing was installed infront of deity at some distance the devotees stood outside this railing to have ‘darshan’ of Keshava Rai.

This temple again destructed by Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb, due to Jats in the region had risen in revolt. During British India company, this temple area katra keshavadeva was auctioned and purchased by Raja patnimal and he had again built this beautiful temple in Mathura.

After 1950's the current temple was erected and presented in the same form.
