This Mathura museum is founded by Sir F. S. Growse in 1874. At the very begining it was called Curzon Museum of Archaeology and finally changed to the Government Museum, Mathura.

This museum is the only one museum in the India which houses artifacts pottery, sculptures, paintings, and coins primarily from in and around Mathura. This museum carries  ancient sculptures of the Mathura school dating from 3rd century BC to 12th century AD. 

Now this museum has become one of the most famous museum. From Govt. of India, postage stamp also issued on the centenary of the museum.

This is perfect place for complete family outing and very informative information are available to whom who take great interest in Indian culture.
